M Studio
This is a painting studio. Perhaps one of the nicest workspaces we have done, besides our own office, which we love. The interior skin folds and follows the contours seen on the exterior. Daylighting was modeled and glazing determined through simple data-driven-decision-making. For financial stability and use-resilience, the commercial studio space has been designed to convert to multifamily as needed. This is a simple possibility to consider during the design process to increase the long-term usefulness of any structure. Custom designed metal cladding drapes the exterior forms, we call it “wallpaper”.

Additional Info
A surprising angular bonderized clad volume juts out from the formal gridded main building, acting as interstitial element to the public sidewalk. A raw concrete wall provides layers of privacy and protection to emphasize seclusion even in an emerging mixed use neighborhood in the core of Santa Fe.
