A single family residence with a separate guest suite, and two car garage. Large horizontal portal roofs increase the low-hung building lines and provide outdoor living areas.
CONTINUOUS ROOF LINE
The thermal envelope design has currently different then the section provided, however I felt that these were good thermal- bridge -free details for a continuous roof line on a passive house. The specifics of the dimensions regarding the recesses and thresholds are critical in such a case in maintaining the look and performance.
VENTILATION & MINSPLIT
Working with the newest versions of REVIT architecture/ MEP has really allowed us to bring our mechanical systems to a new level of detail that I feel is very helpful in Passive House construction. In only rare situations would I mix the HVAC as this plan shows. I have designed several buildings that use this type of system and they seem to be working OK, but I have found that the “tuning” is fairly tight and they do not feel very resilient.
