HABITAT for HUMANITY

The first unit of the Habitat for Humanity  Duplex is complete. The project will not quite meet the Passive House Standard. However it represents a strong initiative on the part of the Board of Directors and staff to develop and build the best housing possible for their clients.  Following the Passive House Approach in terms of Thermal envelope prioritization. As anticipated many learning curve moments were encountered due to the significantly different approach that Passive House requires in terms of Thermal Bridge reduction, and air-tightness.   The dedication of the staff and volunteers ensures that these experiences are educational and that each subsequent project is improved upon.

Special thanks and appreciation to the following individuals for their significant dedication to the success of Habitat’s Passive House Initiative.

Ted Swisher: Executive Director

Bob Shelby: Volunteer & Passive House Subcommittee Head

Elmer Leslie: Past Board Member & Volunteer
